There is no legally existing bank that can just freeze your account without a valid or real reason to do that.
As I understood in your Q, you got already an initial inquiry and they choose not to tell you this time, but definitely a formal notice shall reach you in due time the cause/s of apparent bank action on your account as long as not covered by a known agreed period of hold on due to type of account you've placed your investment, or principal.
Three possible reasons, but I could easily discount the other
two reasons, if you can't remember of any existing legal problems that may have possibly put your account to an attachment by a court order; or you are indebted to somebody and a freeze order is coursed by the attending court to your bank having known by the appellant who caused
the the legal action against you the certain account in your bank.
Don't blame the bank, you needed him for he is your best protector, they are just under jures so can't do anything but hold your account at first, but definitely they are not opening it for public view. It's strictly private. The account is still your whole money, small or big.
The 3rd, must you have to seriously consider and be sure you are very ready to support you with all possible documents of ownership from where legal source your money placed in that frozen account....the bank has legal order to freeze your account because there is a QUESTION OF FRAUD AND OR MONEY LAUNDERING source of your account.
What to do? Got to be ready to prove them wrong...or if not ...better...figure out...where first to get temporarily lose while preparing your defense with battery of good lawyers.
gud bye...hope...all the way I am wrong...good luck.
Bear in mind, the bank is not your enemy, it is but right to depend you and help you to preserve bank secrecy....hold on that...exercise your utmost right...of privacy. |

Walk into the bank! Demand to see the manager and let him know whats happened and you want to find out straight away.
If they refuse, you can report the bank to trading standards for not informing you of the situation with your account. |

Banks typically freeze accounts when it is a new account, they are waiting for a check to clear or there has been reported problems with the account.
If your account has been frozen, call the bank and ask why. They are obligated to inform you why you are not able to access your money. It may be as simple as a computer glitch, but they wont know there is a problem until you tell them :) Peace, Ame |

KICK UP A FUSS!! They can't do that sort of thing without warning you first. If its for security reasons, they definitely should have phoned you to check if your card has been stolen. Have you been making large, out of the ordinary payments lately? Maybe that's why but i would definitely go into the bank to sort it out. They really shouldn't have done that without calling you first!! |

That is odd that they will not tell you why. You should ask them who can give you this information. Speak to the bank manager and if they can't tell you then ask them who can. I have only heard of accounts being frozen by the IRS or other branch of our wonderful :( government. Child support etc... Unless you have overdrafted your account. Maybe they think you are doing something illegal and are investigating and the bank can't tell you what.
Good Luck on clearing it up. |

Yes they can freeze your account. Maybe you deposited a check in a large amount and it temporarly freeze it for about a week... But Do speak to a bank rep Personally NOT ON PHONE!!
Or you probably deposited a fradulent check!
Or someone has made a huge purshase!!
So many other reasons!!! But... Just go speak to a Bank Rep! GOOD LUCK! |

If you had money in there, they can't freeze it. But if you wanted to go overdrawn without an overdraft limit, then they have every right to freeze it. |

They have to tell you. The account belongs to you and they have an obligation of service. They work for you and not the other way around. Make an appointment with the bank and take some ID with you. |

If they REALY won't tell you, then believe it or not the quickest way is to write a letter of complaint. Send it recorded delivery giving them 14 days to respond to your query. After that if you receive no contact from them you can contact the FSA. But personally I would go into the bank and ask to see the manager and kick up a right stink. If I was refused to see someone then I would cause a scene until I did get to see someone. |

Get you a muslim girl friend. Have her go into the bank wearing her hijab and hand the teller a note asking for some money. It may be very important not to over draw. |

I have something to say , why are banks a loud to do this, aint this fraud and not aloud in this world.I just heard wachovia banks and wellsfargo are freezeing accounts and were not supposed to have accounts with them, if you do a bank ruptcy with credit cards ,to switch so they cant touch your funds,Is this true. What banks are safe to open accounts these days.People should be able to trust banks and what is this world coming to.Edith |
