Don't worry - I'm not so stupid to realise what a utility bill is!
I've been asked by my credit card company to provide them with a recent utility bill. I live with my boyfriend and all of the usual bills like gas, electricity, council tax etc go out in his name. Could I provide the credit card company with a bank statement with my address on it, or does that not constitute a utility bill? |

A utility bill generally refers to gas, water, electricity or phone bill. They may take a community charge bill. Ask them if they are OK with a bank statement, They might be OK with it. |

nope bank statement wont suffice, you need to request your bf to make the utility bills in both your names, atleast one in your name - it can be BT , council, gas/electricity, water etc. |

When someone wants to see a recent utility bill (gas, electric, etc.) it's usually to verify that you really live at that address. A bank statement may or may not suffice because you could've moved and your new address isn't showing up on your bank statement yet. |

Usually a utility bill is just the ones from your gas or electricity supplier, but they would want it in your name. I would ask the credit card company if they would accept a bank statement that is current. Or failing that there is probably another way around it, maybe by getting 2 or 3 wage slips showing your address or something?

A bank statement may be sufficient, but it is not considered a utlitiy bill. Give them a call, explain the situation, and see if the bank statement would work. |
