Generally we spend our money buying things like computers($500+) iPods (200+) and the newest bits of technology to impress our friends. The number of kids using drugs is dropping. |

iPods, video games, video game systems, cellphones (if their parents either won't get them one, or if their parents monitor the cellphones they give them). Clothes, if the parents aren't buying enough to keep up with the fashions of the minute. |

Nowadays, things are so expensive.
They want to make as much money as possible and save up for things..
There are also many things that they have that kids want.
Ipods, computers, laptops, movies, mall... the list can go on forever.
Or people just want the pleasure of having money, and telling people that they have alot of money. |

Good question! They seem to want a quick buck but none of them want to work for it like we did ... mowing lawns ... or some other actual work ! |

Kids now have zero understanding of the value of money nowdays. It is the parents fault. |

Well, look at the economy for one. I mean, everything is more expensive for us adults so it's bound to be expensive for kids too.
Yeah, they may be looking to buy drugs or whatever. But more likely it's to buy some new clothes or concert tickets or something. Kids are more independent and self-sufficient these days than they've ever been. I got my first job at 14 years old and I've had to pay for EVERYTHING myself since. I even had to pay rent and buy groceries. So it's hard telling why these kids need money. It just depends on the kid I guess. |

I think they are buying gas. But also, I think that TV has something to do with it. They see these celebs driving nice cars and parading their money in their face so they think "if I have that money I will be cool" That just made me sound really old. :( |

I doubt it is drugs. Things are a lot different now a days. Kids have a lot more to do then we did when we were kids. Video games, cell phone, the latest gaggit. They are all expensive. Roller blades, skate boards, you name it. I have 2 sons who are 8 and 9 and it seems like most toys now a days are at least 50$ . |

The priorities of our society are very disoriented. We all, parents and children, teachers, TV, evangelists, every one is locked into the pursuit of pleasure. We are unable to accept a life with any suffering. Yet suffering is part of life whether we want it or not. |

Kids now 13 and older do not understand the value of money. Plus you are probably right when you said they are spending money on drugs. SAD but true!! |
