Being rich is is depending on what you want in life see you are already rich you have a full life and probably two very loving kids and a very beautiful wife, so if it is material things you want then the more you work the more you will make.

With two kids and all that they are going to require now and later?
$400,000/year and that's with everything you own already paid off and with other monies of yours growing for you short and long term in a smashing portfolio.

You can measure your wealth this way...

When you can take a year off without pay and not be worried about money, you're rich.

So, to my statement in a quantifiable way wealth can be measured.

You figure out how much time you can take off without working and not have to worry about money.

Paris Hilton, for example, would never have to work another day in her life. Bill Gates could become a hermit tomorrow. George Bush & Dick Cheney can sit back and retire after they're done in January of '09.

When you get to the point where you're financially set for decades, you're rich.

the question is not clear. a married man not having wife? are the two kids male? in normal situations 3,60,000 $ per year is sufficient to call him rich.

For individual American taxpayers, rich appears to be a subjective, elusive and ever-changing condition, dependent on a variety of factors, including income, expenses, net worth and even state of mind. What's striking is that in one of the world's most affluent countries, few seem to see themselves as rich, even if they're in the upper-income brackets. You are rich when you purchase without knowing the price, and not when you are browsing the candy aisle in Wal-Mart, when you do not measure success by dollars, but by what you have. A man with ragged shoes is rich when compared to a man with no feet, you are also rich when you are "happy."

The income amount could vary. He could have REALLY high bills and alot of them and just can't get ahead and still making $60k a year. I consider rich someone who is able to pay all of their bills and have thousands left over every month that you can do ANYTHING with.

100K to 250K Well Off
300K Rich

Look at your assets. What percentage of these can you take with you when you go? You find true wealth in eternal things, and your relationship with your family is just that. I would suggest investing there and worrying more about the returns from that.

Depends on where you live. 80k in Arkansas is different from 80k in New York City.
I think you need to have a net worth of at least 800k to be considered rich.

It depends on the lifestyle you want to live. If you could be satisfied and happy making 20 thousand a year then you would be considered as rich. But in america the average person would say around 70 or 80 thousand to be comfortable and over a 100 would put you in the rich category

it isnt the income its the amount of accumulated wealth...and you didnt specify age...lets say 35..and hasnt made a million yet---poor

I am married and have two kids. My house value has at least doubled in the last 8 years- my mortgage is half of some of my friends pay. I work 35 hours a week and the wife is part time. Together we more than make ends meet - and we sock away some cash every year. I have a plan to invest some savings - and keep some savings- at the same time I add to the savings still every paycheck as possible. Do this every year- keep investing, and anyone can become rich.
