Scooby Doo | What do you think about some people on benefits getting about £30,000 when they claim for everything? |
In the papers today and yesterday. |

Please do not get me started on this one, benefit scroungers are my biggest pet hate. I don't even earn anywhere near 30 grand a year and I work 55 hours a week, 6 days a week. It really gets my blood boiling.
I tell you what else p*sses me off too is when they get their bloody mortgage paid for for them. How is that fair? I can't afford to buy a house, I rent a council house. I think people that are on benefits should sell their house and use that money to pay rent elsewhere. Why the hell should my taxes help buy someone a house when I can't even buy one for myself? Same with kids, can't afford to have them so I haven't got them, I'm just supporting other peoples. |

Don't believe everything you read - when it was reported that Lizzie Bardsley off Wife Swap was on £37k per year we sat down and worked it out and she couldn't possibly have been, even with Child Benefit and Tax Credits for 8 kids. She may have had help with her mortgage too which would go direct to the lender but it still wouldn't have been that much.
Believe me, my husband got made redundant last year and we got no help with anything, we were living off my part-time wage of £11k with a mortgage and childcare to pay. |

Show us the story. Personally, I don't really believe many press reports about someone getting £30k in benefits. Not in a single year, that would be about £600 a week!
Maybe over several years possibly. Bear in mind a JSA claimant over 25 only gets £3000 a year. |

You can see why there are so many people out of work sponging off the taxpayer.....
Stop the benefits for those who abuse it and maybe the idiots will go out and find work for once..... |

Any system where it is possible to get more for not working than by having a job has got to be plain wrong. |

As someone who has been on benefits in the past, its not easy living on the little you get. People make up stuff like this to get the yobbos wound up. |

Unless they have dozens of kids, all of which are disabled this story is a complete load of rubbish! Do any benefit calculation and you will never get through this amount! More sh*t stiring by certain down-market papers. |

I expect they'll slap their wristies and leggies and tell them not to do it again or not get caught at it next time as it's embarassing for them to be found handing out cash like this as everyone else will want it and no-one will get off their fat **** to do anything but collect the cheque in future and those of us droping our tax into the pot will want to stop that and join the bandwagon
wouldn't it be great not to get up before 9am and do as you please all day with a fat £30k income to support it? |

It doesn't give me much motivation to job hunt when my degree finishes in a couple of months.
As a new graduate I'd be in a job paying £20,000 but working 45-50hour weeks (most graduate schemes make you opt out of the working time regulations too in your contract).
Not having to work and getting £30,000 of free money AND not having to pay back a student loan sounds great!
Or maybe, just maybe....the government should try encouraging us to WORK. Maybe then we wouldnt be in such a bad economic state! |

I'm in the wrong job. |

Well I have already handed in my notice at work, so I won't bother finding another job, I'll get more by sitting on my a*se doing sod all like all the other spongers. Perhaps if everyone who earns less than £30k quits their jobs and starts claiming benefits, maybe the government will re-think the situation? |

What a guy!!

If it's in the mass media, then it's probably made up. |

Unbelieveable is the first thing that comes to mind, we are on a disability pension and dont even get A$25,000 a year between us, so how they get that is beyond me, we get one quarter of what is classed as the average wage, but pay full price for petrol, food, rates, insurance etc., but pay half price for fares on buses and trains, full price for cabs, and half price at the cinema, for those lucky enough to have any money left, half the medication that we are on is not on the PBS (discounted medicines for pensioners and unemployed) so we can pay anywere up to $80 per fortnight on medications then vitamins that we have to have cause the doctor told us so, then the government take 25% of you income in rent, then we pay for our funeral plan at A$60+ per month A$45 month contents insurance, cant afford a car, so have let my licence lapse for two years nearly, then theres the phone/net package A$80 month and electricity A$40 to $50 a month, then you have to pay for vets bills, and dog food etc., dentists are free but if you need false teeth it takes 2 years to get a set, doctors are bulk billed mostly, but if you need to see a specialist, you have to wait on the public hospital system, I've been on a list now for 7 and a half years, every 6 months they ask me do I still want to be on the list, der, you are referred by your doctor for a reason, to bad if you have something life threatening cause you'd be dead before you even get seen too, and I expect thats what they are hoping for just so they can shorten their lists, its a total and utter disgrace and John Howard has a lot to answer for, sells off the countries assets and says hey look at me we are in the black, with money left over in the budgets, but with his short sightedness, where do they think that they are going to get the funds for things such as hospitals etc cause theirs no extra money coming in hence the tax payers pay more the mortgage interests rise and now they are blaming the current government whose only be in a couple of months, its going to take a lot of time to undo his damage! |

I didn't know you could do that. Yes, I'm quitting my job now too.
What on earth is the government thinking?!!?!
