Seems like I recently heard it is around $8000 or so, but that is only credit card debt - doesn't include mortgages and vehicles, but just unsecured debt. |

Studies have shown that the average american has credit card debt of $8000.00 IF just paying the minimum amount requested by the companies, it would take about 47 years to pay them off. Average percentage rate of credit cards are 12-18%, and can go higher if you have a low "score" on your credit rating. That's just on credit cards, I think for vehicle loans, add about $20k, homes, another $100k |
