I have eliminated my news paper subscription, my family membership to a pool club, dining out, cutting way back on christmas, keeping my car longer than planned, vacation will be camping instead of a trip somewhere.
Trying to get ideas where I can go next if necessary. |

Hubby went back into the Army, moved to GA, away from family. (Being around family is expensive! They always wanted to go out to eat, go to the movies, go shopping, etc) Cut back on movie theater, got rid of cable, cut back on dining out. I shop sales flyers for grocery stores and make a menu for the week according to that flyer. Bare minimum on cell phone. We're pretty excited about his pay raise and housing raise in Jan! Once I find a job though, it'll be smooth sailing...
Oh! We used his enlistment bonus to pay off his car. So we have only one car payment now. |

We are only doing Christmas presents for the kids this year.
We have cut back on eating out and have been driving around less (walking and riding our bikes more). Those things have made us more healthy.
We have been being very careful with our food budget, gas budget, etc. While before I would buy my son things when he didn't need them yet (bigger shoes, bigger clothes, a toy, etc.), I have been waiting until he needs it or is really about to need it (like when he was busting out of his shoe last week).
We have also not gotten the baby some of the things she will need later on down the road yet. We haven't gotten the crib yet or a high chair, but we are saving out of each paycheck to get them. She won't need the crib yet because we have a cradle, and she won't need a high chair til she can sit up.
Never have had a credit card, and we paid off all of our "debt" (which was like, school loans and stuff like that). We are saving more out of each paycheck than we used to, just in case something happens. |

My husband and I didn't go on vacation this year. I stopped tanning and getting my nails done. I cut his hair now. We make grocery lists before we go shopping so we don't have to run back out if we forget something. We got an electric space heater for our bedroom so we could turn the gas down in the reast of the house. We stopped going out to eat as often. That's pretty much it. |

Not a lot really. I tried to cut back on Christmas but couldn't. Too much fun. Although there are some fabulous little finds in charity shops this time of year, especially good for parents who don't want you over-spending.
I recommend cutting out trips to the movies and buying anything else you can get for free, ahem, online.
Also try calling up your ISP and threaten to leave if they don't offer you a better deal. |

I have been mind-blowingly cheap for the past ten years. My family makes fun of me for it. When coffee is on sale, I buy 6 cans & stash them under my bed.
I would NEVER go to a movie (can't pee & smoke when I want), snacks waaay too expensive. Rather cook dinner & I netflix everything.
I quit the gym but felt fat & rejoined (for winter)
My friends agreed not to exchange for Christmas...- took some fun out of it for me- I only have husband, daughter, mother & sister to shop for
i will never pay a dime more than I have to for anything. |

I have converted to all generic products, sold unused items, decreased the amount of water/electricity used, reduced the amount of cable channels subscribed to, I now due more of the things that i would normally pay for like car washing or lawn mowing. I have adopted the cash only paying method. No credit cards. basically, I am cutting out all non-essential cost. If I don't need it, it's bye-bye! |
