The machines do take the cash back if its not taken within a certain time window, and then it should go back into your account.
It depends on how busy the area was, and if someone was able to take the cash before it was taken back by the machine. If it was swiped unfortunately you`ve lost it.
The best thing to do is to contact the bank first thing on Monday morning, and they should be able to advise you on whether it was taken back into the machine or not.
Its suprisingly common, there have been quite a few questions on here asking a similar thing. |

The machine does take it back (at least, Nat West), I've seen it do it. Was about to pick it up, and it disappeared as though by magic! |

The ATM machines will suck your card back in if you leave it there, I'm not sure about cash. You might be out of luck if the next person who came along took it. But contact the bank and see what recourse you have. I'm sure this isn't the first time this has happened.

Im pretty sure it does not suck it back up. Just call the bank to find out. Thats pretty bad though...to be standing at the atm, and then forget to take the money! Thats friggin hilarious! I wish i was partyin with ya that night! |

Unfortunalty youve lost it mate, some lucky punter has swiped it. No the machine doesnt swallow it again it waits until the cash is removed |

Don't listen to them. This happened to me and the machine gives you a few seconds and sucks it back in. You still need to contact your bank to make sure it doesn't come out of your account.
Tell them right away. If someone did swipe it they may be on camera. a lot of machines have cameras fitted. |

it has happened to me too and i lost my last £10 but i think after a certain amount of time the machine will take it back in , just i was not so lucky |

To all you people that don't know, EVERY machine is capable of taking the money back if not removed within 10 seconds. The money is then replaced into your account but not on the same day. |
