Denzo | What happens if u ignor ur debts, not responding to letters or calls, and also not going bankrupt?. ? |
I have a collective debt of about 120,000. For about 2 years now, i have totally ignored all calls and mails. All my creditors have been doing is threaten me with court action and ccjs and what not. I have no fixed address at the mo, as such they cannot come to my house. I have No Car, not a homeower, nothing! And I have not gone bankrupt. So am curious to know what happens when you jst ignor all debts and in a way start afresh without going bankrupt..Will they jst continue to write/call forever? It seem like all they do is threaten.. Additional Details Uk Answers Only pls |

B.S. no company would do nothing after 2 years.

One of these days, your paycheck is going to be considerably smaller than you expect it to be. And it will turn out that one of those notices that you're ignoring was actually a court order garnishing your wages to pay one of those creditors who've been trying to contact you for two years now. |

Ever heard of wages being garnished by a court judgement?
In larger amounts they don't even bother sending your bill to collection agencies.
With that on your report. It will be harder to find a job, harder to get car insurance at a descent price, and you will have trouble finding a landlord that will accept you without you having 6 months advanced rent.

Depends on how much you owe,and $120k is a ton of debt! But eventually one of them WILL take you to court, and if you have a job or get one, they'll attach your pay. And you can't start afresh, since the old items are on your credit report. |

Most debts besides taxes and child support are usually wiped out after 7 years. So if your bills are mostly medical & such...7 years is the time frame. Sometimes up to 10 years depending on the debt. If you have no permanent address and no valuables for creditors to collect...they can't do much. Taxes and child support however, may land you a few days in jail.
If you are nearing your 7 years with most creditors, you will find their collection techniques more serious and more often then before. Some will offer payment plans that are pennies on the dollar of what you owe. If you can, go ahead and file bankruptcy. Either way, your credit will be ruined for 7-10 years anyway. You can start over then. Just don't make the same mistakes. |

they'll catch up with you eventually...the longer you leave it the more you'll end up owing |

Oh boy, you are heading for one big problem .
eventually they will find you and pay day will come.
For that amount I would go bankrupt and walk away from your debt.
After 5 years you are clear of being bankrupt and nothing to pay.
However doing this may well cause you problems afterwards.
I hope for your sake that your debts arnt with someone dodgy. |

First of all if you don't reply to their letters they will eventually take it to court and you will end up with CCJ's. It would be a good idea to check your credit report to see whats been happening if you do not want to get in touch with your creditors. That will show what CCJ's you have and whats been going on since they last got in touch with you. I have the same problem but I open all my letters, and have managed to come to payment arrangements with most of them. They are not as bad as they seem, they are only human. Good luck anyway. |

you need to speak to them asap as if you want to get a mortgage for a home it may affect the rate you pay and if you even get the mortgage |

Hi
With the information you've given, go to court and the magistrate will/should declare you bankrupt and they will explain just what that entails, start off by going to see a solicitor, for someone in your situation it will be free. What ever you do....don't do nothing, good luck, it won't be as bad as you think, more than half the country's in debt.
