What happens if you don't pay back a loan?

If hardship prompts your question, sit down with loan officer and discuss your circumstances. They don't want to go through the process of your delinquency any more than you, so you can probably get the loan re-written with more payments but smaller payments, with some minimal fees included. When you forfeit a loan, you make the 'dead-beat list', and with immense effort, you may recover a tolerable credit- standing in about seven years, Every SOB you'll try to deal with will try to skin you. You will have branded yourself a bad risk. Think 'four-flusher'.

the bank can take your assets, like your house, car, etc. It isn't pretty.

You get bad credit - your rates go to 22% or more, and you can't get a loan ever, for 10 years...

Well an auto loan they would come and repo your vehicle, any other loan if you use your vehicle as collateral they could repo your vehicle yet again. If you just have a straight out loan it would cost you in interest and go against your credit report costing you much more in the long run when you want to get a credit card you will have higher interest cards or if you want to buy a house? Oh wait yeah you won't be buying a house not with bad credit. Or if you want to buy a new vehicle there again you won't have really high interest if you have good credit, but you don't want to pay your loan so sorry you will have high interest rates and bad credit for years to come. It sucks trust me I have thousands of unpaid medical bills also causing me bad credit woes. Needing cosigners just so I can get into an apartment or cosigners for anything any kind of loan just cuz I have bad credit. Always being tied to my mom or dad at the age of 30 because I have loans in both of their names causing them problems with their mortgages and such. Bad credit doesn't just affect you it affects those around you too

First, you get alot of phone calls and letters. Then you go to court. Then they can take your stuff, house, car, or any other valuable possessions. And they can garnish your wages. It ruins your credit for years and you will not be able to get any more loans. Yup, thats pretty much what happens when you do not pay back a loan.

Who did you borrow the money from?
A Bank, you will distroy your credit score making very hard to get another loan in the future.
Your parents, might disown you
Your friends, will never talk to you again
They guy down the street, broken legs

Good Luck!

You would be better off to contact your lender and redo your repayment plan then ask a question like this. Why trash your credit unnecessarily? It will take you a long time to be able to use credit again for any purpose.

Besides the bank will take over your properties or assets to compensate for the loan, you'll have bad credit recorded down as well. And with a bad credit, you might have some difficulties in applying to loans in future again, for eg, car financing/leasing, house mortgage, visa card, etc. To the worst, you may have high possibility of being charged for bankruptcy. So, pls do yourself good, always pay back your loans!

Oh not too much, they repo what they can, ruin your credit, and you'll never be able to own a home, car, get a credit card...

You will soon be a nobody.

Your property will be taken over by the bank, you will be stripped of your credit standing. You will be so embarrassed you can't go to work, or your boss might fire you for being such a shame to the company.

So pay your loan. No matter what it takes. You will recover, somehow. Then manage your finances better so you don't get into a cycle of loans.

Good luck.

your all crazy they will call, bug you, threaten, just avoid them, change number move whatever. so many people owe money and dont pay back there is to many to dealwith. they can write it off. the government bailsout the banks not us. credit is money you dont have anyway its a scam. you dont need credit to but a house or car there are ways around that. the week after i filed bankruptsy i got all kinds of credit card offers. we are in reccesion no one can pay back loans and they shouldnt have gave them in the first place, there crooks. scr--- them.
