45p per £ round figure up to £20,000 = £9 per £20 x1000=£9000 minus the 800 you are short of for the £20,000 figure see sum in brackets(£90 per 200 x 4=£360)
Sub-Total £9000
minus £360
------
equals £8640 |

45p per pound = 45%.
then 45% of 19200 = 19200 divided by 100 x 45 = 8640
then 19200-8640 =10560. answer £10,560 |
|

jokerman131
 |
if that is what you are getting it would be £8640
which is a hell of a lot better than the 4p in the £ that the Farepak people are getting |

I think you need to clarify the question. |

multipy the sum by 45. divide by 100 and you should get the answer £8640 |
|

Think of it this way.......
45p is .45 of £1
therefore if you were getting 45p for every pound that you had to find out what you would get mutliply the number of £s by .45
19,200 x .45 = 8,640
So if you had £19,200 and only got 45p for every one of your £s you would get the grand total of £8,640 |

Ignore the poor goofs who subtracted the right answer from the £19,200 and gave you the wrong answer. Everyone who has said multiply 19200 by 0.45 or by 45% is correct. |

Guineapig

I think you'll find it's .45 x 19,200 =
then 19,200 - the first answer
Oh damn it, it's 19,200 - 8,640 = 10,560
Can I have full marks please if it's right? |
