† Oh yeah
What is a reasonable amount of money to carry in ones wallet?
How much cash is normal to carry around?

If you go out of State/country, you should only carry travelers checks, because if they get lost/stolen you can have them replaced for free. If you are just around town and are carrying cash, I would think that $80-$100 or so is average to carry on you.

That depends on how much money you have, how much you could afford to lose, how much you usually spend and other factors. A rich person who could easily afford to dish out $300 on a haircut would carry alot more than someone eating off the dollar menu.

I'd say cash Australian$50-$150, all depending on what you plan for the day... don't take too much otherwise you could lose the money. Your best bet would be to take a Credit/Debit card so incase you need any money you can use it at an Eftpos machine or stop by an ATM (but make sure the ATM is your bank ATM as banks charge you for using other banks machines)!

With teller machines everywhere these days you shouldn't carry anymore than your comfortable with. If your not in a high crime area, I'd say carry enough money for the week. Try not to hit teller machines late at night. You can also have your weekly allotment at home hid until you need it.

Level 6 Troll
Don't carry more money than you are willing to lose. Don't carry less money than it takes to get through a weeks worth of cash expenditures. Don't carry the money in your wallet - it will give you lower back problems - use your front pocket.

I usually get 800 USD equivalent out of the ATM whenever I'm down to my last 100...

Also, nothing says "hey I'm an idiot tourist, rip me off" like travellers checks. With ATM's in even the most remote places you'd be foolish to carry this pseudo-money.

I usually carry about 40dollars for the week. I carry no more than I can afford to spend because the more I carry the more I spend. if I have an emergency I can use a credit card. If I need gas I use a credit card. What is normal is subjective to how much you make and what your weekly expenses are.

$100 or so.

Any more and it's a bulge asking for trouble.

Nothing and you'll be more likely to be shot.

Otherwise, if they're gonna kill you anyways, does it really matter?

BigBrother
$30
