What is the best program for a person $6,000 in debt?

Don't buy anything else with a credit card. Stop eating out and going to coffee shops. Start paying off as much as possible every month on the highest interest debt - every cent you can, way more than the minimum payment, while continuing to make your minimum payments on all your other debts. Get a temporary second job if necessary to get things under control. When you have the highest debt paid off take all of that money you were paying on that and now apply it to the next highest interest debt. Continue like that until all your debt is paid off. $6000 is actually manageable if you take control of it now and don't let it get worse. Best of luck with it.

find a lower rate interest card and consolidate the debt and faithfully pay it off every month. Cut back on a few extras for a few months to help speed up the payment and start an emergency fund so that you dont get into this again.

You can do it. it's not that bad

Simply to stop using the credit cards and pay them down as much as you can every month.

Tip: Do not close the accounts until the balances are paid off. If you do it will harm your credit much more than it will help.

Really not enough info to give a good response.

If its CC debt.....on several cards......pay the most you can towards the highest interest rate card. Once that is paid off, pay the next one with the highest rate. Make sure to put as much as you can towards it. Once that first card is paid off, pay that old amount on top of the 2nd cards amount. meaning Card A you paid 100 per month and B 75. Once A is paid off, put that 175 towards B. It will seem like its taking forever but it will matter and show in your statement amounts.

Try to do what you can to eliminate extra costs. Eat at home more often, splurge a little less, etc. maybe even take on a pt job to put wages just towards that debt.

Start working it off.. pay the credit card with the highest interest off first, make larger payments, work more, stop hittin up the fast food, only drive when you need to, carpool, don't sweat it where there's a will there's a way!

You don't give enough information about your debt load except the total. Is it all one debt or several? What is the interest rate? How much is your current payment(s)?

Basically, you need to pay as much off as you can every month to get rid of it.

Getting a second job helps. Not acquiring new debt helps.
