I don't spend it on unnecessary crap.
Don't have a monthly cell phone bill. The caller ID on my pre-pay works just fine, and I will call you back from my desk, or home phone. (on the odd occasion that I get a call while away from those places, I will answer, but keep the conversation short.) Savings $600/yr.
Cut back on the cable TV options. I cannot remember the last time I watched anything on the "premium" channels. Savings: $75/mo.
Stopped buying DVD box sets of my favorite shows. There are 29 reruns of Seinfeld on every day, why do I have to spend $39 bucks to get season X on DVD? Savings, alot
Stopped buying coffee from fourbucks and other rip off cafes. Do you really think that Starbucks is that great? Or is it the long line that is convincing you? Savings $4/day
Stopped buying soft drinks out of vending machines and at convenience stores. What is the real difference between tap water and Dasani? About $2. Invest in a good water bottle, and if you are so inclined a Brita filter. Savings: $Unbelievable
Stopped buying lunch out when at work. (OK, I do cheat on this one...) Really, is the fattening, flavorless, and dull burger you get from RubyAppleFridayChiliRobin's that good? Savings $10-15 a day.
Then I put that money into savings and paying down debt. |

Cooking at home and packing lunch has saved me a ton. Eating out is pricey.
Also, stopped driving everywhere and save on gas. I walk, ride a bike, take the buses and car pool. That was huge.
I got an automatic temperature setting for my a/c and heat. This lets you set different temps for diff times during the day. Saved me lots on the gas and electric bills.
Last, I trained myself NOT to buy all the clothes and shoes I stick in my closet and never wear. If I want something, I wait a week or see if its still around and might go on sale. I also don't just buy something because it's on sale. That is huge. had to suppress my inner shopaholic. |

Easiest way - empty the purse once a week of all change. It's amazing how fast $90 can add up. I just dump it into a Folger's coffee can, and in a month, sometimes a month and a half, there is always between $68 - $92 in there. If I've been faithfully putting $50 a week into savings separate from the coffee can money, then I can add that to my savings account or use it to treat myself to something. |

i am retired so i do not worry about saving -- but i still do have a budget -- but when i was working since i earned the money when i got paid - i paid my self first right off the top 15%. this i but aside for rainy day and over years it did not rain much on my life so i ended up with a lot of cash when i turn 55. |

I throw all my change everyday into a big jug. I put it in another room in my house so I don't see it all the time so I don't take money out. It really adds up. |

ME and SAVE do not belong in the same sentence. I don't make enough money to save any! |
