Don't, find a better paying job and submit your resignation, when asked why you are leaving say that you really don't want to leave and would stay for a matching offer, but you need to consider what is best for you and not being offered a raise forced you to look elsewhere. Only do this when you find a better paying job. It's referred to as a power play and only works if you will leave for a higher paying job. |

You don't go in and say "Can I have a pay rise please" - you say "What would I need to do to get a pay rise?". Then you come up with a series of objectives that you can work towards, to show that you deserve it. |

Find out what your market value is. Look through the job ads and see what others with the same abilities are getting, then ask for reasons why you shouldn't be going else where. This method works best when there has not been a pay rise for over one year, because you can put it to them that you've taken a pay cut through them not keeping up with inflation. |
