What is the best way to dig yourself out of debt?
I work full time and pay my bills on time but want to see an end to these bills someday. Any suggestions?

Stop charging or buying cold turkey. Accumulate money in savings and as soon as you get another payment saved send it in.

first - if you have credit cards cancel them all and garbage them.

second - when you go shopping ask yourself "Do I need this or do I want this?" If you just want it then don't buy it.

third - live like Scrooge for a year or two and see what a difference it makes.

Good luck

Depends on how much debt to income ratio. If you are in moderate debt, you can dig out over time by getting a second job in which your paycheck goes to your debt ONLY. Also, many experts say if you have multiple credit cards, pay the most money to the smallest ones first, then as they are paid off, allocate that money to the next smallest, and so on.

Keep in mind that a credit counseling service will lower your interest rates but will lower your FICO score for many years. It might not be a bad idea to at least talk to one -- they have an easy calculation for how long it will take you to get out of debt.

If your debt is really burdensome (the kind that you will be digging out of a decade from now, even with a real effort at paying it down) you may want to take a big forkful of humble pie and file bankruptcy. A rule of thumb is if you would still be paying the debt down in 7-10 years when the bankruptcy would fall off your credit report, it's worth considering.

Good luck to you.

pay off your high interest credit cards as quickly as possible and try to save 20% of your income off the top without fail.

Do, what I don't do. Save any and all extra money from each paycheck. Put the money in a savings or IRA account.

No, not in Singapore. Nobody help you. You have to help yourself. Continue to work hard and live 1 day at a time. I always tell myself this.

Try the 10% solution, take 10% of your income before you do anything and place it in your savings account. Then learn to live on the balance...

To help manage cash flow, pay off all interest rate bills, such as balances on credit cards first, then car loans. Keep tax deductible debt such as a home loan.

You may have to really live cheap for awhile but it will be worth the effort. Once you learn to live without paying high interest on credit cards, you'll be surprised at how much more you'll have left over.

Not to mention how much better you will feel due to removing the debt. You'll be happier and it will show in your work and you will learn to earn more.. It's a whole positive cycle.

Well you could take the advice I've been given (but of course haven't acted upon).. See a financial planner!

They can help get a loan to consolidate the debt on the best loan to suite your needs. Otherwise just figure out a budget and stick to it!
You might need to just tough it out for a while and just put the hammer down on the bill payments and just cut back on anything you don't need, i stopped going out as much and got rid of phone etc.

-Write out a budget. This helps greatly. Putting a gouge in those (not-so-needed bills helped me)
-Suzie Orman gives great advice.
-I am still on this hard journey. I know there is a certain percentage of your income you should pay on credit cards, and also to get the credit cards to a min. balance, and also limit spending.

I can truly relate to you, although I am a fulltime student the bills just keep coming. Do not lose heart, it will get better. Always remember not to live above your means, my brother has overextended himself greatly and is paying dearly.

One of my newer mottos is, if I can't eat it, or wear it...don't buy it. It helps.

Just live and spend within your means. Do not spend more than what you earn. Through this, it will keep you out of debt and eventually save for the future.

If you have a mortgage and at least $10,000 in other debt NO MORE Mortgage can help you like they helped me. I am a rep. for them now. Once we got on the program I ended up losing my job but with all the interest we were saving we were okay for awhile. You won't be paying anymore than you are right now. admin@NoDebt4u.org
