How old are you? An allowance isn't really going to cut it when it comes to equipment for your drumming set. Your parents might throw you $20 bucks a week if you bust your ***. You can go mow lawns and get $20 per lawn. Now is the time to do random stuff outside if you need money. If you see a ratty old fence, tell the people you will paint the fence for them if they supply the paint and pay you. |

Maybe you could sit your parents down and tell them what your goals are. Then make a proposal of chores you could do around the house for them along with a proposed dollar amount for when those items have been completed. Be careful not to outbid yourself. If you try to get too much money out of them, they'll just shut down your attempts and tell you to do the chores anyway.
This approach will have to take committment from you. If you don't do the chores, you don't get the money. |

Do odd jobs around the house for your parents. Make sure your room is clean a maintain decent grades. Ask them if you can talk about getting an allowance for work that you do around the house.If they still don't give you money then go do small work for your neighbors. |

Explain to your parents how you want the allowance to spend.
Opinion: If I was the parent(s) I would request you doing chores around the house and also save some of your "working" money. You would give me the amount you chose and I would add to it. A record would be kept by you and your parent(s) as to the total saved. This is to keep you from spending the whole amount before the time to purchase your needs.
Then I would pay to soundproof your room. |

I would suggest talking to your parents and preparing a list of chores that you would do on a weekly/monthly basis and what you would like to be paid for them.
Talk reasonably and explain to them why you want an allowance. If you come prepared then they are more likely to see how responsible you are. |

You might approach your parents with a contract you've drawn up. Tell them that you are a young man who respects them and that you want to learn how to handle money while you are still growing up in their home.
To do this, you would like an allowance so that you can meet some of your own needs. Have a list of chores and responsibilities on your contract and a lot of space for their part of the list. Then suggest and negotiate an amount for your allowance.
You might want to learn how to shop for some of your own clothing. Start with something simple, like your shoes, or some music equipment. Have a notepad and be willing to write down mom and dad's advice on the purchase of any item.
Then go forth, young man, and learn how to shop--wisely. Show them that you can handle money. Check your account with them regularly, and keep taking their advice. You may make a few poor purchases, so chalk that up to experience.
Remember, your parents want you to become independent, and they are proud of you for the steps you are taking. Just keep negotiating as you make your way along.

Offer to do things around your house.
You know, Chores.
Just tell your parents the truth. You want an allowance, and you are willing to work more around your home for it. Let them designate the amount.
If they say no, then they say no. As long as you handle it with maturity, don't argue with them, and accept any answer they give, you can't loose.
If they say no, just do more yard work, etc.

ok, I have experiance so here is what you do.
1. Do NOT beg for money. that will make them mad.
2. Only ask once, cause if you ask more than once they can get annoyed.
3. Do work around the house without getting asked, it will make your parents happy and impressed of you.
4. Be very sweet and nice to your parents and siblings (yes I know this one is hard) because it will make your parents think that you are just a great kid.
