Cleaning, kitchenwork, packing, running errands, gardening, babysitting, newspaper delivery are some of the jobs available. These jobs will be posted in local newspapers and billboards. Many businesses hesitate to employ minors because of the legal restrictions on working hours and documentation required.
A better option is to work from home on your computer - write articles, sell on eBay, make a website, take surveys. In some cases, you may have to set up an account in your parents or guardians name, and ask them to pay you, after they get the money for your work. if you can't get by with $20/week, you're doing something wrong. when you grow up and work, you'll still have to budget and live within your means -- that means not spending more than you earn. we are not sympathetic to your plight, sorry.

hey, good question! well, i suppose you could babysit, be an entrepreneur and start your own business (ie- shoveling driveways, helping with work, etc)

you have to really hustle when you are under legal working age. try the baby sitting, grass mowing, snow shoveling, laundry doing, grocery shopping, errand running chores of life that people are willing to pay for. my friends daughter makes $50 - $60 dollars a week shampooing peoples hair in a beauty salon. seems to me that is harmless enough. either the persons hair is clean or you wash it again and no one gets harmed. kids also sweep up in small shops, deliver orders for the dry cleaners, etc. think hard and make ca$h money

$20 a week! lucky bastard. i never got allowance and im 16. i had to work for my shitt. shut up and save your money. if you want more, try mowing lawns or see if someone you know can hook you up with a small job. i was the same way....all i wanted was cash. so i mowed lawns and worked at fairs. but then i grew tired of it and hung out with friends. today i get extra money by working part time at a bagel shop....just for pocket money

Start saving it buddy. Thats what I did.

It'll add up quickly and then you can use some of it for things you want, start saving again.

Get your parents to help you sell things on ebay etc... Find anything that you no longer use and or want and get your parents to sell on ebay, will make alot of money this way. Could use the money you made to buy more things to sell. Safe and easy way to make money, good luck:o)

When I was your age, in the summer, I mowed my neighbors lawn, and earned about 15-20 per yard. I also doggy sat for my family and neighbors. My parents didn't let me babysit others children.

you should not get allowance unless you are working around the house for it.

you can mow grass or do odd jobs for neighbors.... and get paid. nothing illegal about that, that i'm aware of.

mow grass, shovel snow, clean houses, clean cars... pet sit, house sit... etc.

Hailie97
thats a lot compared to $5 when i get lucky from my mom!

I know a teenager who owned his own business when he was 13.

You can buy things on Craigslist and at garage sales and sell them on eBay.

You can baby sit or pet sit or walk dogs.

You can offer tutorial help (for a nominal fee)

You can mow lawns and shovel driveways and wash windows and sweep curbs.

Adults like to see entrepreneurial spirit in teenagers and they like to see them active and proactive.

Use your imagination -- there's a niche out there that you can fill.

Feeling Mutual
$20 a week is a lot.

Save $10.00 per week, until you can live off the interest.

Jobs around the house for parents and relatives.

Babysitting.

Mow lawns, rake leaves, shovel driveways.

If you're artistic, paint, sculpt, draw and sell it.

Collect unwanted stuff from neighbors (NOT JUNK), small porcelain figurines, tools, CD's, records, books, stuff thats been in the garage for years that's not too big or not too heavy.

Go to ebay.com Do an advanced search and click the box for COMPLETED LISTINGS. Search on the kinds of things you've collected to see how much they've sold for, so you can price them

Now you will need your parents help.

You cannot be on ebay under 18, and you'll need a charge card in your name (which you cant do), so let them set it up for you. In fact, make them part of your "company".

Learn how to list, take pictures, price, ship etc.

Since you are getting the items for FREE, you are making PURE profit, less the cost of listing and final value fee. LEARN what PayPal is all about and get your parents to learn too. There is RISK in ebay.

Buy a couple of e-books for 99 cents (no shipping charges) so you can build up a little feedback (no one will buy from someone with ZERO).

I'll bet that you'll have folks waiting for you to pick up their trash so you can turn it into treasures. Just be a good store owner. Make sure the items are clean, packed well, and are priced right. Make sure you ship when you say you'll ship, and respond quickly to any customers' problems.

I'll bet you'll do great !!

Dont forget. Get your folks involved from the beginning. They (not you) are on the hook if you do something wrong. It can be fun and rewarding if you do it right.

Good Luck and HNY
