What is the difference between a trust fund and inheritance?
A trust fund is set up by someone to a trustee for their future. A trust fund has both a trustee (usually a child under the age of 18) and a beneficiary who is in charge of the trust fund until the child turns 18 or 21 but may only take money out to benefit the child for college, daily living expenses, etc.
An inheritance is when money, assets, or even debts are passed along to another when one dies.
A trust fund is usually set into place when a child is involved. Inheritances are normally passed down to adult children of the deceased.
