you could do stuff for your parent(s) - wash car, lawnmower grass, decorate, walk dog, have chores around th house - that way you can earn money, stay at home and redeem yourself! :-)

Make it like a project.
Go through everything. Sort it out. Make piles of what you want and don't want.
Then set it all up for a yard sale.
Make fliers and put them in your neighbor's mailbox.
You'll make hundreds of dollars.
