Eating out is a huge expense for me. I started eating at home more often and when I did eat out I'd eat maybe half, take the other half with me in a doggy bag and have it for lunch the following day. Probably saved me somewhere around 80 - 90 bucks a month. My average lunch out is 7 dollars so I do that when I can. I don't really cook at home due to time and lack of facilities so I'm confined to eating out a lot. Good luck! |

I take a cup of coffee with me from home instead of stopping & buying one on the way to work, started a car pool, quit smoking, started shopping at Walmart for groceries, cut coupons out of the paper, take the kids to the zoo instead of the movies have more lunches at home insteat of at McDonalds etc. Just a few things we have done. |

Start with expenditures on alcohol and eating out. These are usually the easiest things to get out of, causing no pain. Is your cable TV bill including extra services?

Define a need versus a want. Then determine on the maximum of your need for the money. For example home phone versus unlimited calling plan on a cell phone instead of having both. |

Avoid fast food and outside entertainment. Also look for coupons not just for food but for clothes, you'll be surprised what you can find cheaper than you thought. I hope this helps. |

The best way I have found is that if you have your paycheck automatically deposited into your account, have a little bit taken out and put into a savings account each time. Or maybe just once a month. That way the savings account is "out of sight, out of mind" and while you're at it, you're earning interest. :) Just make sure the savings account is at the same bank as your checking account, that way you can easily transfer funds in the case that your account starts to go negative. |
