To put your money in a safe place, and to save it. Also, depending on the account you can also have interest on your account, that can actually make your account grow. |

nothing just get a checking account it is better. saving accounts give you a very small amount of interest and its not really worth it, as long as you got a checking account with a bank thats all you really need, the purpose of having a savings account is to put your money in a safe place where you can just save it that is all, but seriously that is hard for young people and all you really need is a free checking account |

to save money up a little at a time in order to get things that we want, it is better than credit cards because you do not just go out and buy on the splurge, you sit back and think about it as you save the money a little at the time,i have my last credit card almost payed off and i will toss it and open a savings account and put probably approx $50 or $75 a month and if i find that i need something i will have the money to get it. |
