I got a email saying I won a lot of money. They wanted my back account number and my address. I sent a email back asking why do u need my address and bank number?. He wrote me back with a number 2 call him. My mom called him and asked him what all this was about because I have no idea. He told her I won a yahoo contest(I had no idea I was in a contest). He got really rude with my mom on the phone and acted scared like he was hiding something. Do you think this was fake?

definately spam. I gets lots and lots of emails telling me that I won the Australian Lottery, I mean seriously lots and lots of emails from different people all referencing the Australian Lottery, or the Australian Give Away or this or that. Never ever respond to them, it just confirms to them that you are a living person at that email address and you will only get more and more emails of the same type. So go ahead and make sure that you mark them as spam. Hope it helps. |

Yes it's a scam. You can go on yahoo and type in "phishing yahoo" and they will tell you how to report them. However, since they provided you with a phone number I would also contact the police. This is considered wire fraud (because they tried to defraud you over a wire line, the phone). This is a serious offense.

Usally when you get crap like this its because they want your bank card number just to use it to buy crap of the internet..... although sometimes they are real (I personally wouldn't reveal the number anyway.) |
