try to pay by cash only and don't use your credit cards! also if you work or go to school - try to bring your own lunch. another trick you could use is if you get a 5 dollar bill for example save those in a jar. like just automatically save your 5s. a lady did this and saved a huge amount i heard in the news. |

don't eat out, even that one cup or morning coffee adds up big time. stop buying what you WANT and only buy what you NEED. |

write down everything you buy everytime you buy something (even if its small) then see what you spend money on that you can eliminate. be strict on yourself and whoever else is spending money from the same account you would like to save in |

Really simple...the tiny stuff adds up - and adds up QUICK! pennies here, pennies there.....
Best way to LOSE money - not paying off your credit card in full - those damned interest charges are like throwing your money down the toilet. |

Don't spend it.
Make a list of things as you buy them, and to the side of the actual price, write the cheaper generic brand's price, and at the end of the week write the total amount you could've saved. Multiply that by 52 and you'll have plenty of motivation. |

i would take EVERY single 5 dollar bill and put it somewhere like ina jar. or the back of the wallet. And when i have 50 dollars worth of 5s or more i would take it and deposit in the bank. Interest+3 years of saving 5 dollar bills= got me 35,000 dollars |

Even just saving a little bit each week (or paycheck) really pays off in the long run... |

Saving money can be tough for those who like to indulge in shopping. What i find works best is getting direct deposits into my checking account this allows me to see what i am saving and also does not tempt me as much to spend. if that method doesnt work for you set spending limits or saving limits for a certain time period. Lets say you want to save $1000 in 5 months you need to budget your funds properly you can save $200 a month and spend the rest on bills and wants. |

A good trick (and you'd be amazed at how much you save over the course of a year), if you have a checking account, is to round down to the nearest dollar for a deposit and round up to the nearest dollar for a debit. It also makes balancing the checkbook easier. You can also use the 10-10-80 plan. You put 10% of your income in savings. Invest 10% and live off the 80%. It works great. My husband and I have been doing that since we married, 22 years ago. He will be able to retire early. Best wishes! |

Ask your bank about automatic savings plans. For example, when you spend money on your check card the bank rounds it up to the next full dollar and puts the change in a savings account.
Also, consider direct deposit into a savings account. Goal type accounts are available at most banks.
I agree with the rest - Only buy necessities, think before you spend, stay in your limits, be happy with what you have. |

Well this is just a vague question, this all depends what your lifestyle, age and employment, bills. Do you have future goals as to owning our own home? Saving for your retirement? Do you have good credit or bad credit?
Your best advice is to hire a financial advisor from a bank, since they are free for valid advice and know your spending history. |

use different accounts, use one account just for saving and another for spending. also when you go to buy things, think if it was double that amount of money would you really get it. |

Make it really hard to get hold of your money. My friend threw his credit card away, and made a withdrawal from the bank once a week, for the budgeted amount. |
