It’s such a pain changing your Bank, why would you do this for no reason.
If you want to close your account the bank does not need a reason, it’s your decision who you bank with. |

Telling them that another bank is offering free checking or no ATM fees will usually get the bank to offer you a "new" account offering the same things and yes it does matter as all established businesses they want to know what they "did" wrong. Retention is a big deal these days. |

kinda begs the question WHY are you leaving?
common reasons: charges, being over-charged / finding cheaper deals elsewhere... or there the whole UK-call centre thing (think Natwest advertise on this quite heavily) or it could be to move towards ethical banking (co-op I think)
Good luck,. do check any hidden charges before you make the leap..

The choice is yours they shouldn't stop you and have no right to quiz you over the matter. Myself I would jokingly say that I fancied a change! Or say that the other bank suits your needs better.... ie bigger overdraft,,,less interest... more interest... just lie... you aint gonna see them again. lol! |

Just be honest, I don't think your reason will make any difference to them really. Maybe tell them that you're changing to the same bank as your partner for easiness? |

You are in no way obligated to provide a reason for changing banks. If they do ask, just tell them it is for your own convenience and that has nothing to do with their service. |

You can say whatever you want. They ask as a courtesy. Tell them your honest opinion and hopefully they will be able to work on changing things in the future.
If you want to go to a new bank or credit union, most of them will allow you to open the account online so you don't have to go in to an actual branch. Don't close your account yet, you have to fund the new account with the new bank and you can do that by transferring money from the old bank to the new one.
That's what I did, its less of a hassle. |
