They are trying to scare you. Next time the call you threatening with that let them know that, if there is more than two communications per week verbal or written, in this country that is rated as harrashment and you can actually sue them.

Don't be cocky, just let them know you're in the process of getting your finances sorted out and doing the best you can to fulfil your obligations.

You have rights, go to the citizen's bureau office and have a chat with an officer.

Good luck

They are trying to scare you. Refer them to CCCS. Or call CCCS and tell them which creditor is harassing you.

The Revolutionary
If your creditors are coming to your house to collect their money and break your knees, it's probably not something legal that you're into.

Collections agencies will say whatever they have to to get you to pay. My sister-in-law worked for one for a long time and she's made up some ridiculous things.

This, people, is why I don't have a credit card. Too many people getting themselves into trouble.

Tell 'em to bring a pizza. If you're on track to getting the mess cleared up they should pull the stick out of the place where the sun doesn't want to shine and wait.

Your right is to tell them the truth. Ask for some extensions, make written promise that you will settle your dues in a particular date. Anyway there are other options in their favor in case there's a delay in payment, like penalty or interest. Accept it, at least it save you in your obligation even for the moment. But try to settle in time as promised, otherwise you're in deeper trouble.

normally they w'd phone u up first or by posting u letter of reminder b4 they take any other actions.they've no right to threaten u! take care.

I have learnt a great deal from the answers to this question, Thanks.

They wont come knocking at your door but if they do just dont answer the door..talk to them through the window...make them feel dumb..dont mind the ppl who are leaving dumb remarks..they probably dont even know what a creditor is...put try to pay at least 20 a week until you are caught up. If you can pay more than do so..hope this helps

krystal g
you better pay them ...but they usually don't go to ppl's house's so don't worry about it ...i never heard of a creditor going to ppl's houses!! Unless its something really really bad!

bozeybozey
It is highly unlikely that they will come knocking at your door to collect money. They would send you to court first.

thunor
Many dept collectors attempt to threaten to come round to the house for payment...or to make an arrangement for payment. In your case you fear this happening. You are not under any legal obligation to open the door when they do come knocking....just don't answer the door. But you would be advised to seek assistance in dealing with your debts...as you do run the risk of edither one of these dept companies taking you to court......good luck to you.

lily
have you been to see the CAB, they usually help with debt problems and if you have to go to court they will represent you or will provide a solictor.

Tell the creditors your reference number and tell them you are doing something about it.

SORT IT -you made the debt - - - - undo it.

Put up a "No trespassing" sign on your door and kick there *** if the ignore it.

If you are in the UK go to the CAB, get the interest stopped on the mounting debts, get a repayment plan agreed upon and pay it. These debts will follow you wherever.

Can you move to an apartment and get an unlisted telephone number? OR no phone at all?

On the whole, it sounds like a good idea to spend more time with your friends (at their homes of course) and catch up with all the things you missed while you were busy building up your debts.

How about if you pay your debts?

We all do...why are you different?
