Wait a little bit longer for our markets to hit bottom, then invest in something like the DIA. (if you want to not have the $ now and have easily a couple thousand in a few years)
Otherwise, I think you should not buy anything with it, and wait until there is something that you really want to buy and go for it. You're young and have lots of time before you have to worry about bills and such.
