If you don't have one already, I would strongly recommend that you start an emergency savings account. Emergencies will eventually arise (car problems, illness/injury, personal emergency, etc) and having that money may make the difference between a really bad situation and being able to take care of it without too much stress. It's also a great habit to get into for when you are an adult. |

I'd invest it. In the words of Warren Buffet (the wealthiest man alive):
"Be fearful when others are greedy and to be greedy only when others are fearful." He simply means to buy stocks when the market's down, and sell them when the market's high again. You could make a few thousand dollars, or you could lose it. If you do lose it, it's only 300 bucks. But if you don't, you might have a few thousand dollars to put towards college. |

This is cool: www.sharebuilder.com. You can buy stocks (they're low now, the prices are great), and they pay a dividend. That way, you can get money for the rest of your life from them. If you can learn to do this now, you can turn that money into thousands of dollars. For example, if you can make 12% a year on your money, in 6 years it will double. So, if you just kept it invested in stocks and they keep going up, and you reinvest the dividends, that money could be worth $80,000! Could you come up with another $300? How about $50 a month? You could become a millionaire if you can teach yourself this right now. Pretty amazing, huh?
