Go to the Bank and explain the problem in person.
If they made an error and the charge was levied in error they are duty bound to refund you. |

Go to the bank in person and explain. You won't have to go through the hassle of a third party. This is an extremely common event.

Do you have your account set up online? If so, these charges (mistakes) should show up on your account. Call Customer Service and walk/talk them through your account and point out their mistake. They should reimburse you in about 5 -7 working days. |

I would find my record of where it was paid and go to the bank and show them. They can not take a letter as proof. They need to be shown the mistake. You will have to do this in person. |

hiya try go back to your bank and make an appointment with the branch manager and also take any proof you have that the dd was paid and ask that the charge be cancelled and if not contact your banks head office manager and explain to them that you have contacted your branch manager and hopefully they can sort it out for u and if that doesn't work contact the banks ombudsman & watch dog and make a formal complaint & also try contacting the bbc watchdog and ask them to look in to your case for u but hopefully the bank will see there erro and cancell the dd charge |

I find KD's optimism very refreshing. Dealings with financial institutions are rarely easy. Sending your responses in writing, with a follow-up visit, is not a bad process.
Now if you have proof that the bank erred, they full steam ahead. At the very most, they will reverse the fee they charged you but don't expect more than that. |

You need to call the bank AND the business that the debit went to. Could have been a glitch in the system, etc. Make sure when you contact the business (or if the bank IS the business) to have on hand account numbers and takes of BOTH debits. I had this happen once. I contacted the bank and they told me to contact the business first. USUALLY the business will reimburse you if it wasn't supposed to be taken out, but in my case, it wasn't and the bank refunded me the money from theirselves. |
