Good Going.
Put in High-Yield interest account, make some extra.
Once you have some chunk, invest some in stock market for long-term.
You will do enough for retirement if you keep saving like that

sophieb
sounds like you are just "starting" to save. Keep up the motivation and don't touch it. When it gets to where you feel comfortable, and your job continues, then invest in a Roth IRA.

unless you are going to share with me, it really has no effect on my life.

You are well on your way to prosperity. Keep it up, and you may want to move some to a Roth account and then to an IRA, as you can gain future tax benefits. Look into annuities an after you get $10,000 or so you may want to get into a mutual fund or a combination of the two. You are doing great so keep it up.

That is a very good start. It is recommended that you have 3 months of income in savings should something happen. Obviously this is the minimial amount you should have. If you plan on keeping the money in savings you might look into investing it into something that has a higher rate of return. You are doing very well! Keep up the good work!

Homeslice
At your age you should be further along than that.
