Sweets, I KNOW this sucks right now. I am not doing fantastically well by other people standards. I am thousands in debt and I have $35 to last the rest of the week (food, gas, etc.) However, I have a boyfriend that adores me, a boss that helped me buy a car and a loving family - (that I support to the tune of $1000.00 every month) You have to change your point of view. Remember that you got through the bankruptcy $30.00 ahead. Best of all you know you know that you can get where you want to be again - you've been there once and you know just what the road looks like. Remember - Colonel Sanders' goal was to make $1000.00 per month - and look what happened to him. Perhaps you can look at this in a very Buddhist way - you NEVER own a posession - it owns YOU! Quit valuing money and start valuing yourself!!!! |

Freshman year of college. Had $20,000 in debt, no job, and couldn't afford to buy a pretzel (35 cents). I actually had to close my bank account that week so I could eat. Needless to say, it's gotten better, and slowly but surely I've picked myself up.
It will get better. No matter how tight things get, always put a little money away in the bank (whether it's $10 a week or $100 a week) and you will always have a bunker in case something goes wrong. Good luck! Life will get better, and money isn't everything. |

You're kidding, right?
I would be lucky if I had $30 right now...at the moment, I'm unemployed (but I'm "working" in a supermarket parking lot carrying bags for change, which I've been doing at this particular store since the late 80's, but full-time--seven days a week, nine hours a day OR MORE--since 1991) and I live with my mother who will be turning 64 on Saturday. We live in a two bedroom BASEMENT apartment which we pay--get this-- $1000 a month. It took me a year to save up for the bicycle which I've had for five years now, and it only cost $78 dollars at Target! It took me 5 years to save for the Playstation2 I have--bought it used for $100! If I ever have a really serious illness or something happens to myself or my mother, then that's it! We're DEAD! Try being in THAT situation and tell me that it's bad where you are!
(Count yourself fortunate--at least you had something to declare when you filed for bankruptcy. And it only stays on your credit report for five years or so--check with your bank.) I wish you luck--things WILL get better... :) |

I've never had to file for bankruptcy. However, in college sometimes we ate spaghetti and ketchup for dinner and drank cooking sherry when we went to parties (I'm surprised we didn't go blind)!
Always remember that ultimately, a person is not judged by the amount of money they have earned but what they have done in life. |

Keep your chin up. We have all been there before. At least you got the $30. Every day is a new opportunity. |

Sounds like you were worse before bankrupcy. Then, your net worth was negative and now it is positive. On the other hand, before bankrupcy, you had all those clothes and shiny objects to look at. |

I was so broke once I was thrilled when going through the McDonald's drive thru and was handed the wrong order so I got to eat for 2 days.
Things got much better |

I'm very sorry to hear you are low on cash, I grew up poor. I know the feeling of having whats on your back is what your worth. Hell everything I owned fit in my backpack when i was 16 and moved out of my moms house. I didn't even have money I had clothes and hope. You have proved something whether you see it or not, you feel you lost everything, but your still here, your still strong, and I'm about 99% certain you'll find a way through this. Thank you for showing people that even without materials you're still worth something |

Once i picked up cans to get enough money for gas to get to work. That was by far my lowest point, I felt like a bum doing it.
But having said that I never gave up and now never have to worry about that again. |
