It really depends on your situation.
But i would start off by prioritizing.
Then I would be sure budget all the money.
Make sure you have a set amount that u plan to spend for each category(Be Wise!). For example:
Savings:
Bills:
Clothes:
Shoes:
Personal:
(But remember that categories will vary depending on living and family arrangements.)

But as long as you spend wisely and save u should be okay!
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pay off your credit card debt first. If anything is left over, build a savings cushion, unless you have other high interest debts to pay.

I would take a nice vacation with my husband and buy my sister a used car. I'd spend about $4,000 on vacation and $4,000 on the car.

first i would look at my tax situation and see how 8000 was going to affect 2007 tax return-- if i decide i would owe 1500 dollars i would mail in an estimate tax payment. if not affected i would than

second of all if i did not have at least 6 months living expenses in a very liquid account if would put that amount aside.

if i had any left ove i would take all but the cost of beer and put it into a cd.

then i would take my beer money and go buy my self a beer and toast my good luck.

I would write up a money journal for this special windfall so 10 years from now you'll know what happened to it and how good you were with the money. You'll say to yourself. "Wow, I really spent that $8,000 wisely because I now have ______"

Be happy you get to keep 62% for yourself. Smile a very big smile.
---- 10% give back to God, for his generosity in your life and that you can see the sun shine for another day
---- 28% taxes, for the opportunity to live in a free country
---- 62% All You! =)

I personally would invest $4960 in stock options and make 10x that in a year. Then I'd be happy again for having $25,792 profit from wisdom. (gross of $49,600)http://finance.yahoo.com/q/op?s=FXI&m=2009-01
8/10/2007 FXI = $130.45

Target 1/16/2009 FXI = $249
180 LEAP calls = 10x = 900% return
6.90 ask ---> 69 when FXI = $249

Pay off debt and if there was money left over I would put it into a savings account.

1) Pay off revolving debt (credit cards, student loans, car loans, etc.)
2) Create an emergency fund. You should have enough money in a savings account to cover six months of expenses in the event of a job loss, illness, etc.
3) If there's anything left, open and/or contribute to a Roth IRA account

First take half and save it. The other half i would divide it in 2, one portion would pay all bills, or as many as i can, the other I would see if I owe some one a present, b-day, or something, and the half of the half, I would invest it a short term maturing cd, and then i would by myself something, clothes for work, shoes, or something, and keep some pocket money!
