The Unconventional Desert Rat 3
What would YOU do if you won 250 million dollars?
I would pay off my parent's, sister's, and brother's mortgages, get the best doctors in the world to help my nepew, take all of my friends, including one or two in Yahoo Answers (*wink*, Turdo) on a long vacation, where the booze (and wine) flow freely, and I can swim with the dolphins. Yay.

I'd pay off all our bills, build a bigger house (because we've outgrown the one we are in now), buy a new car (because mine is dying), put a lot into a savings account for my kids college, help my family a little, and put the rest up to live on.

First tell no one. Find the best tax attorney in your area to set up an estate. This will save you millions in taxes. Meet with a financial advisor to properly invest your winnings. For several weeks to a couple months, continue like you never won. Again, tell no one. Not your best friend, not your co-workers, no one!! Remember, if you won $250M in the lottery and took the cash option, you would get about 60cents on the dollar. Then you would be in the 35% tax bracket. All of a sudden, that $250M is now $97.5M. You are still better off taking the cash option than to take the 25 annual payments.

hey I'll take a little from your column!! I would do the same pay off all family debt, prob. give a little to each of them. buy a nice house on the Lake, get my pilots license to go anywhere I wanted.
The first thing would go on a MUCH needed vacation. Then after a couple of months of fun. I would focus on finishing my masters in whatever I wanted and then maybe start a little side company. and Live Happily ever after - off my investments!!

Well... If your buying...

Hmmm... What would I do? *looks up into the sky and scratches chin*

I really wouldn't need all that money. Seriously. And I'd be paranoid of being killed for it. My family can act like starved cannibals... So, after I secured all debts paid for my entire family, and bought myself a beautiful house in Tuscany... Or maybe Southern France... I'd invest a portion of it and then divvy it up amonst various charities and causes. I really could care less to be rich, as long as I'm happy.

I'd start of with a diversed holdings of real estate, I'd invest approximately 75 million dollars in various, commericial entities such as shopping malls, apartment complexes, and other moderately yeilding investments. I'd think take about 25 million to put in a low risk bond. I take another 35 million in put in a money market account and live of the interest in that. I'd purchase approx. 20 million in stocks. I'd start in angel investment fund with approx 15 million and invest it into some high risk high reward companies. I'd take another 15 million and invest in some hedge funds. I'd buy a 10 million dollar home a fleet of cars for a million. Start a trust fund of 25 million for the children(I don't have any yet.) I'd donate 10 million to my future alma mater, Purdue. Let the other 19 million sit in some account accruing a little interest.

I figure that would turn my 250 million into a billion. I'd live off the interest of about 25 million a year. I'd be straight
