I found a wallet with over £80 in it once, I handed it over at a police station, and never heard a word about it again.
There were cards in the wallet which would have enabled me to find the owner and put it into his hands, taking £10 for my trouble, and informing him of this fact would have been more than fair in my opinion.
I would not trust the police, many but not all are honest, I would tell the police I had found some money, I would tell them where I found it, and I would tell them if no one claimed it within two months I would assume the ownership of it.
If the police contacted me within that time, identified the amount, I would allow them to bring the owner to me to collect the money, I would tell them I was keeping a small percentage for my trouble, as I would ensure the rightful owner recieved it. |

If I saw a person drop the money id tell them or pick it up and give it to them but if you just find it lying in the street, it's yours!
What would the police do with it if you handed it in? |

If there is no I.D. with it, then i'd keep it.
On the other hand if its in a wallet then i'd inform them that i have it. Its a nice feeling knowing you've helped someone out. |
