chris n | What would you do if you won the lottery? |
I'm talking like 50 million dollars. Think about this question and be realistic with yourself. Most people react much differently to winning the lottery than prior to winning. |

50 mil? Quit my job, charter a plane to Europe and see as many places I possibly could. I'm sure I could pay off all my bills online while i'm vacationing. Invest about 5 mil of it just so i'd have a little something to sit on. |

It's funny, I just told someone last night: I would split all my time between being on Yahoo! Answers and reading. I would never, never do a single useful thing again in my life. |

First of all, I'd keep my mouth shut about it. I'd probably move elsewhere. I'd also invest most of it so that the principal could earn me the interest or dividends to live on. |

omg my sister and i always think about winning the lottery specially when its that high. we say will give some to each relative and (i have to give my mom more because i owe her money) and then my sister and i would buy a really big house u know the kind the ones with like 12 bdrooms and a bth, for each of them lol, with a really big yard for the kids to play in, with a heated pool. we also have a dream of opening a bar. |

I would build a 10,000 square foot mansion on a coast of some kind with an enormous movie theater, infinity pool, and a state of the art entire house electronics setup. Then I'd buy 8 superexotic cars, one from each of the big guns (Ferrari (maybe two of those), Lamborghini, Bugatti, etc.) Then I'd hire a 24 hour personal trainer who'd force my a$$ to get in shape by making sure I did my workouts and ate the proper meals on time. Then I'd invest the remaining $25 million and use the dividends to order a weekly ultra high class hooker and smoke weed. |

I would pay off all my and my parents debt and buy myself a decent sized nice house and new car nothing fancey just decent and dependable. Then i would buy my parents a place on the lake, and make sure they never had to work again, I'd pay off both of my sisters mortgages and cars so that everyone in my family would be debt free.
Set up trust funds for my two children and all my neices and nephews to assure their college education.
I would donate some to charity and the church and the school where my kids go.
I would invest in real estate and put it into IRA's and other money making accounts so that me my family, friends and children would never need for anything. You can live without wants but you cant live without needs.
Then i would buy a nice house boat and me my bf and kids, and the rest of my family would take a looooooooonnnngggggg relaxing trip down the biggest river in the US. |

Go and see an Attorney and Accountant so that I could the divided the money among my family so they could be taken care of for the rest of their lives. Also I would do all that I could to lower the amount I and my family have to pay the IRS. Then I would invest wisely and live off the gains and never touch the principal. |

Due to the fact that we had a real eye opening experience for a period of almost 4 years that took us down a road that we never want to even be near again...i'd like to think that the lessons we learned from that experience has prepared us for any success or luck that could and has come into our lives current or future.
If I won the lottery of $50M , the first thing I'd do is collect :) Next, I'd provide my sister in law who is a single mother with 2 kids and has struggled for several years to keep everything togehter since her husband left...the money necessary to pay off the house her ex husband bought but then abandoned. I'd also provide her with enough money to be able to live comfortably ... she wouldn't want to take it but she deserves a break and I'd want to give it to her.
Next I'd provide my brother who is currently struggling to make a go of a business while keeping a mortgage going and renovations to a very old home he lives in...enough cash to live on comfortably til the business flies (its only a year old so not yet prosperous), and I'd provide money for him to renovate his home to the level he and his wife want it to be...he wouldn't want to take it either, but tough.
Then I'd open accounts for each of our 5 children and provide them with cash to each purchase their own home outright immediately for those old enough to be on their own and in the future for those still of age to be at home. Then I'd also provide an educational fund that they could use for any educational pursuit they wished to undertake for the full period they would need.
I would further provide them with funds to be used for their marriages, their honeymoons and to raise their children for a period of 5 years...however I would stipulate that such funds didn't mean they didn't have to work or pursue their ideas of businesses of their own.
I would then pay the mortgage for my other brother, who isn't struggling but who had a heart attack a few months ago after losing his partner to cancer, and has changed his lifestyle dramatically from what it was. He has always wanted to open a business as well...and I would provide the funds for him to do this...he currently works but has wanted to be his own boss for sometime. I'd like to make it happen.
I would send my mother enough money to allow her to live comfortably and would pay her entire nursing bill for the rest of her life so that she wouldn't have to worry about it...she has MS and has been nurse cared for since my father died. She also lives 1600 miles away so I would provide her with transportation to visit whenever she wanted.
Then...I'd provide donations to charities I believe in and trust to use the money for the good of the charity. I would also seek out a very needy family down on their luck having things happen to them that they simply cannot control (In other words people who are going through what we went through) and I would support them for a full year allowing them to get back on their feet again. I would continue to do this for as long as I could for as many families as I could.
Then I would invest in my husbands company in order that they might expand their business larger than they are currently considering and allow for a large advertising budget so that they can corner the market in their field and provide all the clients who want to use their service now but can't because they are just too busy and their facilities aren't matching their growth.
Then...I'd gather together all of our friends and family who mean a great deal to us and would pay for all to go on a Hawaii Cruise, which is something we are trying to put together for 2008 anyway. All expenses paid for everyone.
I'd purchase the RV we hope to do anyway...in about 6 years without a lottery win...and I'd purchase an adult living residence in the city we are in now to spend our country's summer here and travel during our country's winter...to all the warmer climate areas south of us.
That would probably spend most if not all of the money...but if their was something left I'd take my husband and I on the honeymoon we've never had. and a new laptop to replace the one I have that the screen goes wacky on every so ofte :)..the dividends from my husbands company would be enough to keep us going each year when he decides (if ever) to retire so that's what I'd do and it's been what I would do, for the past few years...simply because we lost everything in 2001 and lived without salaries, food etc...so we know what circumstance beyond control can do and we would want everyone we love and care about to benefit from our luck and like us then, would no longer have to struggle.
And that's the truth :) Sorry for the length...but we have a huge family and I didn't even include my husband's 11 other siblings :) they got their help from their dad's money of which my husband got none...so don't feel too pressured to assist any of them...they all seem pretty comfortable anyway.
...and anyone who reads all this answer? you deserve $50M :)
Billy your answer cracks me up...I'm voting for you!!! |

i wouldby my mother a house, i would pay off my uncle, aunts and grandparents homes. i would start constuction on my dream house. my close cousins and other family members would get like a vacation or one months rent, that is it.
after that i would take a LOT of money to Vegas and have the time of my life.
The first half of that million would be to blow on stupid stuff.
the second half would go in a high interest baring acct |

I would put away most of it, invest some of it, immediately pay off my rent for the rest of my lease term, buy a house, and get veneers put in my mouth. I would also invest in a new wardrobe. But for the most part, I would put it away. |

I would retire and manage that wealth responsibly. My goal would be to maintain my current lifestyle, provide security for my family, and then give to charoties of my choosing. BUT, I would also get a place in West Maui, so there. Maybe a nice bass boat, and then something to tow it with. |

Well. Most of the money I would give to all my favorite charities because they're are a lot more people in need of money, food, and shelter than me.
Second, if I had money to spare I would use them for my own pleasures. |
