i just happen to have been awarded a little over $10,000 in a settlement, so it's tax free. i have a student loan to pay, but i don't want to pay it all off at once (so i can build credit)...

Well, since its R70 000 in my currency (south african rand) I would invest some, open a trust fund for my unborn baby and then use the rest to arrange my immigration to USA. Did you know thats enough money for a small house in this country lol.

Actually, I was awarded $13,000 in back pay from SSI (because it took them so long to decide if I should get it), and I've spent it mostly on bills, renting an apartment, prescriptions, and doctor bills.

I did also buy a bed and an armchair, but since they send it to you in installments, I didn't get it all at once. I also donated a little to charity.

I think it is very important to have your Goal. $10000 will dissapeared if you don't plan to spend. If you don't have any debt just put in the Bank which is high interests but you have debt just them all off. The pressure from your debt worsen than you have money in your pocket
