What would you do with $25,000?
im 21yrs old, live at home with my parents, work to pay for my car and insurance, and am currently waiting to start the next college semester for my degree.

I've recently inherited $25,000 (that is currently sitting in a bank account), but i don't know what to do with it. If you had 25 grand, what would you choose to do? (stupid or serious answers are both welcome :) )

Have you ever thought about a dream business? I know that you are young... but many people start with less.. what is your dream? Wouldn't it be great to get something started and continue to work it through the next years? Set up a business plan and chat with some friends or possible investors.

Wonderful companies begin with little money and lots of energy and creativity!

have 5 grand on side. take 20,000 and put it in a CD. for example. if you put it in a 6 month cd that has a 4.00 apr you'll get 400 in interest. do something with it, dont let your money sit there and not get any benefit out of it.

Pay off your debt. Save the rest for college (you'll need it). You can purchase a couple cds with differing maturity dates so that you have part of the money available at regular intervals.

I would put it in the bank and it would be there if you need it for expenses.

get yourself some diversified investments ASAP.

If I were you, and I was 21, with $25,000, here is what Iwould do. Let's assume that I know a financial manager who has invited me to invest my money in a consortium of forex traders, not directly, but in the form of a loan. Assume also that this loan will make me 87.5% interest each year until the $25,000 initial value reaches or exceeds $100,000. That would be about 3 years as you can see here:

Year 1: intial=$25,000, 87.5%gain=$21,875
year 1 end=$46,875.
Year 2: initial=$46,875, 87.5%gain=$41,015.63
year 2 end=$87,890.63.
Year 3: initial=$87,890.63, 87.5%gain=$76,904.30
year 3 end=$164,794.93

At this point I would be invited to either split my account into smaller accounts to continue at 87.5% or take the entire and enter a second phase at a lower percentage rate of return, say 30%. But you see where this goes. You can make much more than if you speculate on stock, which is risky (and a risk that is not that manageable at the moment).

Just a thought.

Best of success.

Contact me if you have any questions at all.

Unless I absolutely needed the money for some emergency, I would let it sit in a savings acct and let it catch interest (Or ask my bank for advice about other safe method to generate interest).

The government would prefer that you spend (squander ) it to stimulate the economy - but- even though you're only 21, and I know that 25,000 in the bank will drive you nuts ,just sitting ther and NOT being spent -- I would put 20,000 in a financial product that would earn the most interest, and that I could not easily withdraw on a whim. I'd keep the other 5,000 in savings for unexpected car repairs and college expenses.
Just a thought, most 21 year olds I know would just spend it on frivolous stuff and in 6 months have nothing to show for it.

Put is in a money moarket account if you think you will need it in the near future. Invest it in mutual funds if it can sit for a while. I'd probably fund a ROTH IRA and let it start working for my retirement. You can't put it all in there, but a little goes a long way at your age. Of course you have to have earned income to be elligible.
