You will have your internet service cut off and you will receive bills and calls until you either pay up or move away and change your phone number |

Not much consequences except being in dept or the late fee will go up each week or month when its not paid. I doubt police can get involved unless you got good credit and they can give you warning that your fee will keep going up and ruin your credit. |

Why did you lie? I think when you moved out you thought you would get away with not paying. Companies are not stupid you know, yes they will catch up with you and if you don't pay you will be summoned to court and have to pay the court costs too, plus a ccj will be added to your credit file.
I suggest paying up asap. And yes, of course they can find you. |

1. Collection agencies will call you. A lot.
2. You will have a negative account on your credit report, affecting your credit rating.
You can stop 1. and avoid or remove 2 by doing the following:
Call the original company. Tell them you canceled.
Ask them to send you a bill for the month they think you owed.
If you actually do owe the money, pay the original company directly. Settle with them and tell them to call off their dogs.
Immediately send them a certified letter stating that you have paid them and you want confirmation that they have received the payment. You can also ask the representative for an email address to make the same request (if you do email you'll have a time-stamped letter with all the info you need if you need to look up your account number again). Make sure you include the date, the account number, who you spoke with when you paid and the payment amount.
Keep your bank or credit card statement from that date handy when it comes in.
After paying, wait 2 business days, then Call your bank or credit card company to ensure that they did, indeed, take the money out of your account. If they did not, call the original company back again and insist that they tell you if you're paid off, record who you spoke with and get an employee number if you can. Just start the whole thing over again.
Collection agencies have no qualms about calling you repeatedly, that company should also know what it feels like to be hounded.
Do not talk to collectors. Do not say anything to them until you get some kind of verdict from the original company.
"...who am I , and that I have to pay..." Also know that You Never Have to Answer That Question. They are calling You. They should know who they are talking with.
There are a lot of scam companies out there posing as collection agents. |

first of all you should double check that you do owe this bill they are asking for, if so they will keep sending you reminders of the outstanding debt it may even increase but im not sure about this if they aren't able to retrieve the money from you they will then get a debt collecting agency to contact you who may even work out a payment plan with you so that you can pay in instalments if you are not able to pay all at once failing this you will probably be taken to court for the sum |

It's not a criminal offence to not pay bills it's a civil offence so the police aren't gonna come after you so don't panic :) |

They could take you to court or send bailiffs to remove your personal stuff to the value of what you owe.
At the very least you will be reported to a credit reference agency.
Which will effect your credit rating in the future and stop you getting a mortgage, loan, credit card etc..
If you cant pay it, go to the local citizen advice bureau for advice and help.
Best bet is if you can pay it, do it. It will be less hassle in the end.
Good luck. |

they will file a claim with collections and it will go against your credit score..
also they can see a judge and get your wages garnished until the bill plus late fees and interest is paid in full...
i would just pay the money you owe.. |

They will take you to court to get their money if you don't pay, then if you still don't pay ( you will owe them a lot more by this time because you will have court costs as well to pay and bailiffs fees) They will send in the bailiffs to get the money but if you cannot pay they can take you TV etc to the value of the money you owe, so it really is best to pay up, its a lot cheaper in the long run, |
