Additional Details Yes thanks people I know credit cards are the bane of soceity, but I need one to buy porn ( only joking). You are right, they are best avoided. If you MUST have a credit card (e.g. for internet purchases), then get your bank's credit card and ask them to automatically deduct the full amount owing each month. HSBC will do this, for example. This way you will completely avoid their iniquitous interest charges. |

NONE pay with cash if you can that way you know its payed for there and then without the interest being added on. |

Depends,if you do not intend to clear the balance monthly then the lower the interest the better. On the other hand,if you are going to pay it off monthly then the one with the best rewards scheme is the one to go for. |

Like you said they are all crap, When I was in college (years ago) I got in trouble with credit cards and will never use them now. you can use a debit card for online transactions and as you know you can only spend whats in your account. All credit card companies are evil and only want to get you into debt so they can rip you off for more interest. be very careful mate, if you have a real emergency talk to your parents. good luck dont make the same mistake as me. |

If you can, avoid it altogether. They are nothing but trouble. They add ridiculous amount of interest, and only a fraction of what you pay each month actually comes of the balance. You would be better with a debit card for on line transactions ( such as switch). I am talking from experience, I will never have another credit card again. I said I would only use it in emergencies - but of course life is never that simple. Please be careful, these companies don't care how much you spend or if you can afford to pay them each month, they only bother about taking as much money as they can from you over a number of months or years. |

I like Discover. As long as you pay your ENTIRE BALANCE EVERY MONTH, you will make money off of them. I use it for all my regular purchases, haven't paid a dime in interest or fees, and I get several hundred dollars cash back every year. Regular purchases are 1% cash back and there are periodic special 5% cash back offers. The bottom line is don't get trapped by paying the minimum payments and any card will work. |

NONE are best . Cash has a ZERO intrest rate and beside you don't spend that extra 15 - 20%more that bankers know you will with Credit/slave cards.
visit DaveRamsey.com to learn what bankers don't want you to know. Cash is best and smart. |

Citi Platinum Dividend Select - 2% cash back on gas, groceries and some other stuff and 1% on everything else.
Discover sucks in my opinion, they have a tiered rewards program and Citi gives you 1% to start with. |

Doesn't matter how bad a deal it is, get the one your bank offer. At least that way you've got the best chance of keeping your house when it all goes ****-up! |

morgan stanley - up to 2% cash back.
Though you kind of answer your own question - if you don't pay off the balance in full every month any credit card is a bad idea! |
