so i got a 50 dollar target gift card . i dont have a need for anything at target.
1) if i buy something with the gift card, and then return it w/ the receipt will they give me cash back? (i doubt it , just wondering)
2) would it be efficient to buy some albums and re-sell them at a used CD store to get money back? or would i not get much back?

1) No, you unfortunantely can't redeem the cards for cash.
2) It might help to buy some stuff to sell, but you might do better by hopping onto a site like Craigslist and saying that you have a $50 card you want to sell for x amount of money |

You can't get a 'refund' on a gift card, I'm afraid.
If you return it with the reciept or without the reciept, you'll most likely just get a store coupon to be used within the store. So no cash.
Your best bet is to find someone who wants to buy the card off you and sell it to them for how much it is worth. Chances are, this is unlikely.
Once you've got a 'gift card' you are pretty much stuck with it. And they have an expiry date, so make sure you either spend it or trade it with someone before it expires.

Go to www.craigslist.org and list it in your local section. Many people will buy your gift card for even $5-$10 off the face value. Good luck! |

Probably by buying something, worth 50 dollars. Then taking it to the customers service and return it. You could buy a new game (for xbox 360, Wii, or Playstation 3), they will cost 60 dollars. Plus tax. That way, if Target won't give you money back for your purchase then you could take the game to a game stop or eb games to sell it, they will give you almost full price because it's new, to them.
Orrrr you could just sell it to someone. Either way you get money.

Well, on the back of most gift cards it says something along the lines of "cannot be redeemed for cash or credit except where required by law" or "not redeemable for cash except in those states which require redemption for cash". These "states" they speak of is only Washington. And once the card is equal to or less than $5 USD then that remaining balance can be redeemed for cash.
What I due, and have to do since I've received 2 this xmas, is go and buy something that will cost almost as much as the card has and then late return it. (Usually I do this with computer games, and I say that it's NOT compatible with my computer or my computer isn't powerful enough to run it.) They then will refund you with cash. |
