Without car payment, car insurance, or mortgage/house insurance/garbage-water bill, we (2 people) spend about 2500/month on everything else. Everything else includes utilities, vet bills, groceries, prescriptions, clothes, cell phones, et al.
California/SF bay area
I noticed the previous person's information and thought I should comment on the fact that we analyzed (to the nickel)our budget about 7 years ago and came up with ways to cut expenses. Unless he has children included in that estimate, he must be living an extravagant lifestyle (going out a lot, etc). Not included in my calculation :
Retirement $1200/month
Investments $1200/month
Vacations15K/year or about $1200/month
Or there is always the concept that being single is more expensive than being married. Whenever we cook, there is enough for 2 and usually not much to discard. We do not go out very often, but rather buy DVDs that we watch at home. We spend a lot of time and money on photography equipment, art supplies, and books also. |
