when a bank goes bankrupt they don't have money. they have to liquidate their assets and give them to their debtors in claims court. the persons with accounts will get their money through the FDIC. those funds are available through the bank. always make sure your bank is FDIC insured. |

If a bank had FDIC insurance, most of the depositors will get their deposit returned to them. FDIC insures up to $250,000 on interest-bearing accounts per depositor and no upper limit for noninterest-bearing accounts.
The assets (loans) will be sold to other banks and the proceeds from the sale will be applied to pay the creditors, and so goes the liquidated furnitures, computers, etc. Also, any bank owned real properties will be sold to pay off the creditors. |

No one. The money is gone...usually in bad loans that people don't repay or failed investment ventures that don't leave behind sufficient assets that can be sold to recapture the losses. |

When ANYONE goes bankrupt, it means there ISN'T enough money to pay what the owe. The question is who does NOT get their own money. In the case of a US bank. The US taxpayer, via the FDIC, pays the depositors. |

No one gets it, theres no more money. The bank runs out of money. When a bank fails, federal authorities usually try to find a white knight to come in and take it over. If that happens, then depositers don't lose a dime. The white knight assumes the full liabilities and covers them 100%, even if they exceed FDIC guidelines. |

no one. when anyone, even banks, declare bankruptcy no one gets the money because it gets rid of all previous debts. you could say the bank keeps it. |
