The best Bank for this type of account is Barclays and your friend does not need to mention anything about their Bankruptcy and,the bank will not ask until your friend wants to open the usual Current account whereas they will then do the usual credit checks.
All you friend has to do is ask for the basic account where they can have their money paid into.
You can use this account to pay Direct Debits etc. |

Some banks do simple cash card accounts, you cant borrow ie an overdraft, and I dont think you can pay at the counter with the card etc.
Its purely to withdraw and pay money in ie wages, I know HSBC do one for sure, which of the banks is more sympathetic I couldn't say sorry |

Nat West certainly do a particular account where you can have a debit card, no overdraft or cheque book or credit for serving bankrupts.
If your friend has managed their bankruptcy in accordance with the Official Receivers directions there should be no problem in getting an account with any bank. There may be some restrictions such as limited or no overdraft but nothing that would cause major problems. |

You could ask the question for him at any of the Big 5 or smaller ones in your area.
Check out what interest they pay on a current account - it won't be much at any of them but it might make him feel better that someone values his custom enough to give him something in return. |

Most of the major banks offer a basic bank account that allows wages to be paid into and (some) allow direct debits and standing orders too. They usually have an Electron card or a simple cash card but no cheque book or overdraft.
If the account is held in credit for a while then there is a good chance that they will offer to upgrade the account to a 'proper' current account will full facilities.
As for the Capital One credit card - pretty much anyone can get one as long as they are on the Electroral Register. |
