Yes you can, if it's a simple case of putting in the wrong PIN number 3 times -you just can't get anything out until you go and sort it out at the bank. This is done to prevent fraud, [but not handy if you have a bad memory like me and can never remember the PIN number!!
However, sometimes an account is blocked because someone has asked for a block on it because you own them money. Not just small stuff but megabucks! The creditor can get your account frozen till you pay up - to prevent you withdrawing all the money and legging it. However, if this was the case you would know about it long before because you would have had umpteen nasty letters from your creditor first. |

Yes its your card thats locked not the account unless you have reported fraud. |

Yes, of course. The locked out thing would only affect trying to get money out of an ATM using a card. The rest of the account functions, such as paying money in, direct debits, standing orders etc, are entirely unaffected. |

yes i did, i put wrong pin number in for a cash withdrawel, the machine kept my card and i had to conntact the bank. my pay still went into my account though |

yes, but u wouldnt be able to take it out using the card as its the card that is locked. u can go to yr branch and they can sort it out for u. |

Yeah, they just locked your ability to withdraw money. It's for your protection. Of course you'll still receive money.
This has happened to me before when I sent my husband to the ATM and he could not remember the number. I told him to write it down (then destroy the paper afterwards) but he insisted he'd remember. |
