This is called "working under the table" and it is frowned upon by the United States Government. There are ways to get jobs that pay "under the table" but you have to ask people if they will hire you and be willing to pay you in that manner for a specific job. It involves getting to know business owners before you ask for a job. Socializing.
Otherwise, you could mow lawns for cash. Go house to house and see if anyone would be willing to let you mow their lawn for a certain price. You could also become a dog walker but this too is an independent job. You would have to go to ta dog park and get to know people. After you have met several people and know them, you can ask them if they ever need someone to walk their dog when they are not able to. Be sure to have an idea of how much you would charge for your services.

If you are legally here on an F-1 student visa, request hardship permission to work. With permission, you can get the SSN and find a job. (Under the Visa, you were supposed to already have enough financial support that you wouldn't need a job.)
If you are here illegally, there is nothing you can do. |

You legally can not.
It would be a federal crime for anyone to hire you.
You would also be committing a crime.
If you are already here illegally, go home. Don't risk committing further crimes and being thrown in to jail, deported, and banned from the country. If you are here legally, but are just not legally allowed to work, then you need to start applying for a different visa that will allow you to work.

Go to the local Social Security office and fill out an application for a social security number.
This way you pay into the system so you will have benefits later in life. |
