Where can I cash in a check besides a bank because i dont have an account?

David's Mom!
The bank the check is written from will cash your check with an ID

gbig_99
You can easily cash that check at the same bank that holds the account. For example, if the person who wrote it did so from a Wells Fargo acct (it should list the bank on the face of the check) then go to Wells Fargo to cash it. They don't charge you for it like a check cashing company does, and they can do it instantly since they can make sure the check is good.

You can ask somebody with a bank account (sign the check to them) or go to one of those Check Cashing places, but they charge a fee.

STEVEN F
If the bank on which the check is drawn has a branch in your area, they will cash it for a small fee. The fee is probably less than anyone else will charge. Unless there is a reason you CAN'T open an account, I recommend you open one. If all else fails, sign the check over to a friend that has an account and have them cash it for you.

There are many places that do just that for a fee of usually 10-15%. I think the names are shopacheque or cash converters do it. Any Pawn Shop will also cash cheques for you too.

Most banks will cash your check, but will add a fee for doing it.

You can either cash it at a currency exchange with a small fee or if it's a personal check have them sign it before you do and go cash it at their personal bank. They may also charge a small fee because you don't have an account, but depending on where they bank at they may not.

Walmart is in the process of rolling out extended financial services in their stores. Going forward, you could transfer the check to a pre-paid debit type card, which you could then use to pay for other things. I'm sure you could also just cash the check.

There are businesses that will cash a check for you with valid ID. However they charge a HUGE fee for this service (20% of the check or more!). If you can not open a bank account, endorse the check over to a family member or trusted friend, have them deposit the check in their account and give you the cash.

Well, if you don't have an account who did the person write it out to? you must have an account to cash a check i think. So you will have to open an account, most are free as long as you keep money in them.

nerdyroberts
a currency exchange but it will cost a small percentage of the check amount i say get a bank account you can earn interest and it's cheaper
