I would suggest that you ask a parent or really close friend if they will go guarantor on the loan for you and apply to a major bank.
Make sure your bad debts are explainable and be honest when you make the application. Most big banks have the ability to offer discretion when approving a loan and can over-ride a declined verdict if need be.
In Australia if you have been registered with a credit reporting agency then your name will be tarnished to credit providers for five years.
There are some finance companies that will give loans regardless of credit history, but there is usually a cost.
