I've tried every single number including the one that has CARD NUMBER written beneath it and no none of them have worked, afterwards I searched the internet to see what it was tried the suggestions on there and it still didn't work, I've been trying to ring my Grandma over it and she isn't picking up her phone.

if its VISA or Mastercard it has 16 digits in groups of four

if its AMEX its 15 digits and if its maestro or solo its between 16 and 19 digits

If it has 18 then its a Maestro(675xx)/Solo(6767x) card, you will need to provide with it your expiry date and your issue number, and sometimes your CVN (Card Verification Number) which as people below have said is the last 3 digits on the signature strip. Where are you trying to use it? |

Are you with HSBC by any chance? Our cards are a bit weird. The one labelled "Card Number" is not actually your card number. Its the long number across the middle of the card :) |

The 'card number' actually refers to which issue of card you have - however, not all cards have this on display.
My bank has over the years sent me out 3 debit cards, so my card number should be 3 *but* it doesn't say this anywhere on the card.
When making an on-line payment you don't have to enter this number if you don't have it, but you'll need to enter your cards start and expiry date for the payment to go through.
If you are still none the wiser, ring your bank direct and ask them. |

Is it an Electron Card, for some reason a lot of Internet operators won't accept them for payments, otherwise its the four groups of four numbers typed in with no spaces and the security number which is the the last three numbers of the group of numbers on the back of the card. |

the easiest way to fix the problem is to call the 8oo or 1-866 number on the back of the card and get them to fix you up,i worked in credit card activation for eight diff companies....its the best way to get something fixed...... try this they will help you find it and do any account changes or anything....hope this helps... |

are you with hsbc/ first direct?
on there cards there is a card number right at the bottom (that has card number written under it!) but thats just a id code for the bank.
the number you need is the number accross the front, the long one in the centre of the card.
