You need to check with banks in your area for ones that offer free checking. Also, ask them if you need one of your parents to be on the account if you are under 18.
If your checking account accumulates enough money to open a savings account that won't charge you a fee, then go back and open a savings account.
Good luck. |

well since you want something you can use online a checking account would be best. and you don't need to get a credit car with some banks you can use a debt car just like the credit card except you dont have to pay them back because you're only using money you already have :)
chase is very good and they're nation wide |

Either would suit your needs, but I would maybe start with a savings account. You may need your parent(s) to sign on the account as well, which may or may not be an issue. One thing to also look into would be the minimum balances associated with the account. Sometimes you have to have a minimum balance of say $50 or $100 and you get charged if you go below that. An account at a larger bank can be easier to access because there are more locations and more online options, but a smaller bank usually offers better customer service and the basics you would need. As for now I would look into the bank that your parent(s) bank at for convenience purposes. |

Get both accounts. One for spending ( Checking) and on for saving ( Savings).
Almost ever bank has online banking and bill pay for free.
As for a bank I don't know where you live.
If your under 18 your parents will have open a checking account for you and you can open a junior savings account.
Good luck. |

A savings account might be a little harder to take money out of thru paypal. So i'd say get a checking account. Paypal can be safe, yet it does have it down side. |

you should go with bank of america, they have a student checking account and as long as you have one direct deposit a month you dont have to pay anything. they have the best online bank account ive seen, rated in top 5 for security. ive used them for almost 8 yrs now.
but any bank you choose i would say checking because your not going to make any money off the interest rate that most banks have out now unless you plan on having over 10000 + in the bank. and if you are going to be withdrawling the feds have a reg on how many times you can withdraw from a savings before you get charged - and its a low amount 5-6 times. |

I don't know what banks are good, but a checking account is more of what you are looking for. By all means do not go to Capitol One, they are a big get over. |
