Which one of these things must I do first?
a) Find an apartment. I have a deadline of June 1st.
b) Pay off a large debt which is restricting access to my credit report.
c) Enroll in community college. I've already been rejected enrollment from a University.
d) Find a second part-time job.

Tough one.

Find the apartment first, you can't do squat if you are homeless. If they require a credit check, you may have trouble.

Then get the second job.

Pay off the debt with whatever money you can get you hands on working two jobs. Or at least get it manageable.

Quit the second job.

Enroll. Hopefully you can make it by September, if not, there is always spring sesmster.

You do not want the burden of the debt while you are in class. It will just distract you. And you certainly cannot attend classes if you are homeless.

And the reason you have to do these in a specific order is.....? While you're out job-hunting, stop by apartments near the places you're looking. After everybody closes up shop for the day, fill out the enrollment for the comm. coll. and make small (more than minimum) payments on your debt. Keep some of you cash in a savings account as an emergency fund.

BTW - without the job, you may have a hard time finding a place to live. They tend to like to see that you have the ability to pay the rent every month.

1) d, because it will help you achieve all the others.

2) a, because it has a pressing deadline

3) Then work on b & c at the same time. Finishing college will get you higher paying jobs and help you avoid debt problems in the future (if you are smart about spending in the future).

Good Luck!

A. The next three things can be next, because they require a home address. Always do the hardest things, first. Finding an apartment and finding a job and paying off credit card debt, whcih can take 5 years or more, are the three hardest.

Twinkle
If you have the money then pay the debt off first, but if you don't then get a second job first in order to pay off the debt.

Tireni
get the job so u can pay the debt and get an apartment

hey! I Think that you should first find an apartment seen as u have a deadline for june 1st then pay off that awful debt because it will only hold you down, if you do not have the money for it yet try applying for a second part time job to pay it off. then enroll in a community college once you have sorted your self out. if you feel that the other things are under control you may want to enroll before so that you have go it out the way. hope i helped x

B. Pay off the debt first.

Well I would say "A", if you do "B, C, and D" immediately after "A" !

shaynaw20
Find a second part-time job. Most apartments are going to want to do a credit check, most likely. Then pay off the debt so you can have a credit check done. then get an apartment, then go to school. I would normally say go to school first, but since you have a deadline for the apartment, you need to get your credit straightened out. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Enroll in community college, your education will increase your chances of obtaining a better job then you would have if you were not educated, which will allow you to find a better apartment, pay off your debt and alleviate you needing a second part time job.

there is little reason that a, c, and d can not all be done at the same time.

As for b, a debt cannot restrict access to your credit report. You can get a credit report for free if you have ever been denied something based on credit denial.

nova
Get a job first everything else will fall into place.

~Cat~
Find an apartment. once you have a settled home life everything else will come naturally and it'll be easier to get things sorted.
